Maryhurst Renewal Thanksgiving

In 2020, Thanksgiving looked a bit different

The Maryhurst staff is a group of courageous and determined clinicians, counselors, and support staff. Our in-community counseling and therapy team, Renewal, has seen firsthand just how special a holiday meal is for the families we partner with -- and how difficult it can be for them to find the time and resources to host one.

Since 2018, Renewal has gathered families in our program from around the region for a Thanksgiving dinner. The purpose is twofold: to reserve space for community-building & fellowship and to make certain that all who attend leave with the goods needed to host their own family meal. Although the Renewal team knew we could not meet in person this year, we also understood the importance of this family tradition for our clients. Following CDC guidelines, the Renewal team provided Thanksgiving dinners-in-a-basket to more than 100 families in the community!

This was made possible thanks to donations from First Financial Bank, Nationwide, UBS, and countless other Maryhurst supporters. We want to thank them for helping families in Maryhurst programs to have an uplifting and full Thanksgiving, even despite the limitations created by the pandemic.
