MB Care Celebration BBQ

We convened a group of partnership staff, residents, and volunteers to celebrate another year!

Many Maryhurst supporters may not know this, but we operate a special residential program called a psychiatric residential treatment facility (PRTF).

PRTFs are unique because they specialize in serving youth who are dealing with psychiatric issues like depression, PTSD, bipolar disorder or schizophrenia.

Our PRTF, a joint venture between Maryhurst and Uspiritus/Centerstone, is called MB Care. Residents live in one of two cottages and attend Brooklawn’s on-campus Jefferson County Public School. The program provides short-term, intensive therapeutic treatment and focuses on improving the skills needed to safely re-enter the home and school environments.

This month, MB Care celebrated another year of operation with a BBQ fully stocked with food, snow cones, and a dunk tank! Maryhurst and Uspiritus residents & staff attended, along with volunteers who regularly visit the girls who live here.

We’re always looking for more volunteers to spend time with children at MB Care, so please reach out to Mary Summers (msummers@maryhurst.org) if you’re interested in working with this extraordinary group!
