Sensory learning: supporting kids!

Last month, we held informational sessions on the importance of sensory therapy for youth in care

Each month, Maryhurst's training team convenes staff for important sessions on continuing education.

In September, our Occupational Therapist, along with an assist from our Therapeutic Behavioral Support Specialist team, offered staff a handful of relevant and fun trainings. The sessions were a big success, and they were super instructive on important topics like overstimulation/deregulation, triggers, sensory therapy, and more. Staff had the chance to learn hands-on, trying out body socks, balance boards, hammocks, kinetic sand, fidgets, and more. Shout out to all the facilitators and attendees, because knowing about these topics helps us understand the kids better and helps us to be better supports.
